Thrissur, August 03: In an apparent softening of stand towards K Muraleedharan, son of veteran Congress leader K Karunakaran, who was expelled from the party, Congress in Kerala today said it would welcome help “from any quarters” during the upcoming local bodies polls.
“Support from any quarters would be welcomed during the coming local bodies election,” Opposition Leader in the Kerala Assembly, Oommen Chandy said in response to queries on Muraleedharan’s statement that his group would support the UDF in the polls.
“During election time, will we say no to any help being offered to us ?”, he asked.
Muraleedharan had yesterday told reporters at Kochi that he along with his followers would support the UDF in the local bodies elections.
Muraleedharan’s bid to return to the party fold since the past few months had apparently run into rough weather following the state leadership’s lukewarm response.
