Congress leaders slam Vijayamma for defending Jagan

Several Congress leaders today lashed out at YSRCP honorary president and Pulivendula MLA YS Vijayamma for stating that her son YSRCP Chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was not involved in any irregularity and no investments flowed into Jagan’s companies illegally.

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has thrown a challenge at Vijayamma asking whether she would take a pledge that her son did no wrong. He said that for Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao had signed some agreements under pressure from Jagan. “It is strange that the YSRCP leaders were blaming Congress for the corruption and taking credit for welfare schemes being implemented by the government,” he added.

Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi has alleged that Jagan rode a tiger of corruption during late YSR regime and was facing punishment now. Jagan was now behind the bars because he had indulged in several irregularities, he said. He said Vijayamma, who was alleging that the Congress government had illegally arrested Jagan, was not listening to the cries of the farmers, who lost their lands due to her son’s misdeeds. Vijayamma was trying to gain sympathy votes in the ongoing bye-elections. He appealed to the people to vote for the Congress candidates if they wanted development.

Congress MLA from Kadapa district Veerasiva Reddy has advised Jagan to return the assets he had earned illegally to the government and apologise to the people. He said that it was unfortunate that there were coverts in the party. Jagan’s family members have to lodge a written complaint if they have doubts on death of Dr YSR, instead of making baseless allegations.

Union Minister Pallamraju said that those who committed crime must face stern punishment. Rajahmundry MP Undavalli Arun Kumar said that YSRCP was trying to secure votes by misguiding the people. He called upon the people not to vote for Jagan’s party, which is synonymous with corruption. He asked Jagan to admit his mistakes. MLC Paladugu Venkat Rao has alleged that TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu was bigger economic offender than Jagan. (NSS)
