Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi on Thursday recalled the services of Babu Jagjivan Ram for the upliftment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe people.
Talking to media persons after paying floral tributes to the portrait of Babu Jagjivan Ram to mark his 105th birth anniversary at Gandhi Bhavan, Chiranjeevi said that the government and Congress party was committed for the welfare of SC/STs and their upliftment. He recalled that the government has constituted a Cabinet sub-committee to look into proper utilization of SC/ST sub-plan funds.
Chiranjeevi said that he would follow Babu Jagjivan Ram’s ideals and make efforts for uplifting the under-privileged groups through social justice.
Paying rich floral tributes, Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath said that the Andhra Pradesh was the first in the country which has proposed to bring an Act to ensure proper utilisation of SC/ST Sub-plan funds.
Minister for Social Welfare Pithani Satyanarayana also recalled the services of Babu Jagjivanram to the upliftment of under-privileged communities. Party seniors and activists were present in the programme. (INN)
