Telangana Congress Monitoring Group chairman and APCC general secretary G Niranjan on Tuesday appealed to Congress emissary and Union Minister Vayalar Ravi to take an early decision on the Telangana statehood issue.
Talking to media persons after meeting Vayalar Ravi at Gandhi Bhavan, Niranjan said that the decision on Telangana State demand was important for reviving the party position in the region. He said that he had also appealed Vayalar Ravi to take steps to fill the posts of all District Congress Committees across the state to improve party’s performance in the ensuing by-elections to be held in 18 Assembly segments.
Former PRP’s GHMC president and Congress leader Feroz Khan has lodged a complaint with Vayalar Ravi over not filling of party posts by PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana since the merger of Praja Rajyam Party into the Congress. He said that the erstwhile PRP leaders’ morale has been affected at all levels as the Congress failed to fill up the party and nominated posts.
If the PCC and the Chief Minister fail to take steps in this direction, he predicted that the Congress party would suffer a major debacle in the ensuing by-elections.
APCC general secretary Abed Rasool Khan said that leaders of minority communities were being neglected in the party and that was the reason why they are quitting the party and joining other parties. He appealed to Vayalar Ravi to do justice to minorities in the filling up of nominated posts.
Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao hailed the party for taking `Medhomadanam’ on recent debacle of party in the by-elections held for seven assembly segments. He said that the `Medhomadanam’ would benefit the party in the ensuing by-elections to be held for 18 assembly segments.
