Congress leaders console family of slain councillor

Ghaziabad:Senior Congress leaders today met the family members of slain councillor of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, who was battered to death by four persons here.

A group of party leaders led by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad consoled the family members and assured them of providing the best possible help from the party.

“I will talk to the chief minister and chief secretary about legal and financial help to the family members of late congress councilor Chotey lal,” Azad said.

Chotey Lal of Nagar Nigam ward number 18 was sleeping outside his house due to power cut when the accused thrashed him with iron rods on the intervening night of July 20 and 21. He later succumbed to his injuries at GTB hospital in Delhi.

Senior Congress leaders including Sheila Dikshit, Raj Babbar, Naseeb singh and Pramod Tiwari were present there.
