Congress leader calls on Chairman Minority Commission; seeks conviction of Umar’s killers

Mewat: A delegation of Congress, led by Haryana Congress vice president and former transport minister Chaudhry Aftab Ahmed, called on Chairman National Minority Commission Syed Ghayur-ul-Hasan Rizvi on Tuesday and demanded justice for Umar Khan’s family. The former minister also submitted a memorandum to chairman minority commission, comprising of demands such as status report from Rajasthan government, justice to the family of the victim, punishment to the accused, ex-gratia to the family of the victim and government job to a member of the family.

Mr. Rizvi assured that he will seek report from Rajasthan government in this connection and will take initiative to provide justice to the victim’s family.

On the occasion the minister expressed concern over rising incidents of communal violence in the country and demanded that the country stop oppression of Muslims in the name of cow protection.

He termed the hooliganism in the name of cow protection a planned conspiracy and said that BJP government wants to destroy the centuries old cosmopolitan culture of the country but Congress will never let BJP succeed in its plot.
