Congress-JSS seat-sharing talks fail

Thiruvananthapuram, March 12: The bilateral talks between Congress and UDF partner Janathipathiya Samrakshana Samithy on seat-sharing for the April 13 Kerala Assembly polls failed today with the latter insisting on five seats and the former sticking to its offer of four.

JSS leader K R Gowri said after a meeting that her party leaders would meet tomorrow to decide the next course of action.

Addressing reporters after the Congress election committee meeting, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said his party had offered JSS the “maximum number of seats” it could afford.

“Now it is upto them to take a decision,” he said.

He said another round of talks would be held with leaders of UDF constituents tomorrow.
