There is a possibility that Congress may tie-up with YSR Congress ahead of 2014 general elections as evaluation process is on in Congress, regarding its election prospects in major states like Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
Sources say that Congress is planning to bring YSR Congress president Jagan to its fold keeping in view the point that YSR Congress has swept recent by-elections in Andhra Pradesh. Rumours of Congress and YSR Congress tie-up are rife since YS Vijaya Lakshmi, Jagan’s mother, had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on July 4, and alleged that CBI is staging a witch-hunt against Jagan. Reports of meeting between Vijaya Lakshmi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi have also been received unofficially. However YSR Congress denied the meeting.
There is a strong possibility of a reconciliation between the Congress and Jagan as party’s top leadership have realised that the party had mishandled the political situation in Andhra Pradesh after the death of YSR in 2009 which resulted in Congress debacle in recent bye-elections.
