Congress hits out at Modi for remark against Sonia Gandhi

Ahmadabad, January 31: Gujarat Congress today hit out at chief minister Narendra Modi for his remarks on Sonia Gandhi regarding price rise issue.

“Modi has no right to attack Sonia Gandhi, who is Congress party president. If Modi wants to write on the price rise, he must write to the prime minister,” state Congress president Siddharth Patel said at a media briefing here.

Modi, referring to sharp rise in prices of different commodities yesterday had said that he was tired of writing to central govt regarding price rise. “It seems I will have to write in Italian in order to make them understand “, Modi had remarked.

Patel said, “Modi’s language shows his standards. It appears the CM has become desperate after the Supreme Court of India handed over Sohrabuddin’s fake encounter investigation to CBI.”

He also lashed out at Modi on his garib kalyan mela saying that the state government has not launched a single programme or scheme for welfare of poor sections of society in the state.

“He is distributing cheques, and other benefits to the poor people in garib kalyan melas are from the central government schemes and programmes. Not a single new scheme has been launched by his government in the state,” he said, attacking Modi.

According to Patel, the central government has launched national rural employment generation scheme which providesemployment and livelihood to the poors in rural areas.

He said that kisan credit card, India avas yojna, students scholarships, pension to senior citizens are central government sponsored schemes and the state government has not made any financial contribution for these schemes.
