Patna, Sept.7 : Hitting back at the Congress for accusing the government of diluting the UPA’s proposal on the scheme of OROP, BJP national spokesperson M.J. Akbar on Monday said that the Congress Party had lost its mind.
“Last year, it was said that the Congress had lost its way and had no vision, and perhaps this year, we will have to say that it(Congress) has lost its mind. The UPA Government had allocated only Rs 500 crores for OROP(One Rank one Pension) earlier, but this is not an issue of just 500 crores which the Congress was giving on their vote on account. It was calculated that 10, 000 crores will be needed for OROP and the Narendra Modi Government has given it from its heart,” Akbar said here.
“Our Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has done in 14 to 15 months what the previous government was not able to do in 40 years. This(OROP) was such an issue which had no connection with politics. The implementation of OROP only proves that when Prime Minister Modi gives any assurance then it should be believed that he will work in that direction,” Akbar said at his press conference.
Talking on the split of Samajwadi Party from the Mahagathbandhan of the RJD, JD(U) and Congress, ahead of Bihar elections, he said, “It is very clear that this Mahagathbandhan cannot give a stable government to Bihar. It can only give ‘jungle raj’ ,where people will be afraid of robbery. For development in Bihar, we need a stable government.”(ANI)
