The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Sunday condemned the statement given by Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad stating that more time was needed to hold consultations over Telangana issue.
Talking to reporters at Indira Park while participating in the Samara Deeksha programme, TRS MLA T Harish Rao said that Azad’s statement was not surprising as he has already defined “one week, doesn’t mean seven days.” However, he said Azad’s statement has proved that the Congress party has once again betrayed the Telangana.
Harish Rao said it was ridiculous on the part of the Azad to seek more time to hold consultations. He said several rounds of consultations have already been held including the All-Party meeting held last month. He said that the Congress party has deliberately and repeatedly cheated the people of Telangana region. He said that the Centre was not committed to resolve the Telangana issue.
The TRS leader demanded that all ministers, Congress MPs and MLAs from the region should resign from their posts and party to join the statehood movement. He said people of the region would teach a fitting lesson to the Congress party in the next elections.
Meanwhile, TRS MLA K Tarakarama Rao and other leaders condemned Azad’s statements and announced that they would continue the statehood agitation till Telangana State is achieved.
