Congress leader Narhari Amin today promised to provide houses to women of Gujarat if the party is voted to power in the upcoming state assembly polls. Addressing a news conference here, Mr Amin said Gujarat’s women would give houses to those women and their family members who do not have one and are living in rented accommodation. Forms for the said project would be distributed to the women by the party members in eight municipal corporations and 159 municipalities in the state from August two, he informed.
The women would have to provide a domicile certificate along with it, he said and pointed that the forms would be distributed till November 30. The Congress leader alleged that under the BJP regime, the Jantri and land prices spiralled beyond the reach of common people that they cannot think of owning a house. He said that under a 12-point ‘Gujarat People Development Vision-2112’, the houses would be built in three categories — A, B and C on 25 lakh square feet land of Gujarat Housing Board which is lying vacant at the different places, he said and informed that in category ‘A’, the flat would have one room, kitchen, latrine and bathroom in the 278 square feet super built-up area and the eligible women would have to pay Rs 70,000 to get the possession. They can pay the remaining amount at low interest rates loan.
The exact cost of the flat would be declared after considering of all aspects, he said.
In ‘B’ category, the flat would have a drawing room, bedroom, kitchen, toilet and bathroom. It would have super built-up area of 543 sq ft and the eligible women would have to pay Rs one lakh to get the possession.
They can pay the remaining amount through loan installments, he said and added in ‘C’ category, the eligible women would get a flat having two bed-rooms, a drawing room, kitchen, toilet and bathroom.
Its super built-up area would be 857 sq ft and would have to pay Rs 1.80 lakh to get possession, he stated and pointed that they can pay the remaining amount through loan installments.
The women would have not to pay land charges, Mr Amin said and noted that they ought to have to pay only the construction cost.
The Congress would construct three lakh houses every year for the needy women after gaining power in the state, he added. UNI
