Congress Govt took steps for farmers’ welfare: Rudraraju

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson Rudraraju Padmaraju on Wednesday claimed that Congress Governments, both at the Centre and State, took several measures for the welfare of farmers.

Speaking to media persons at Indira Bhavan here, Padmaraju said that the Congress took steps to waive off crop loans of nearly Rs 73,000 crore and initiative were taken to pay adequate compensation for the crop losses. He said that the steps taken by the Congress Government for farmers’ welfare were unmatchable.

Padmaraju accused TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu of misleading the farmers by promising several lucrative schemes. He asked Naidu to disclose the measures that he took for farmers’ welfare while he was in power for nine years. He also condemned YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy and alleged that he was trying to take credit for the achievements of Congress Government.

He also asked Jagan to clarify his stand on possibilities of joining the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance after the elections. (INN)
