Congress government reminds Babu of Tughlaq

Eluru, November 10: Opposition leader and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu said that the Congress government’s rule was reminding him of Tughluq rule.

He made the remarks while referring to the government’s move to pay compensation to only those households which remained water-logged at least for a week.

Addressing a public meeting at Eluru as part of his West Godavari district tour, he said whether water remained for a day or week the damage was the same as everything in the house would be soaked in the rain water. As for compensation to damaged houses, he demanded `35,000 for pucca houses and `10,000 for others.

‘’The government hasn’t been paying crop insurance to farmers for the last four years. But this time we won’t keep quiet and would launch a direct agitation with people,’’ he maintained.

Besides demanding a compensation of `5,000 per acre for crop damaged in heavy rains and supply of seeds for rabi, the TDP leader also demanded Rs 5,000 for every handloom that was damaged during rains.
