Congress flays BJP for Rajnath’s call to return to Hindutva

New Delhi, July : The Congress today charged BJP with ”double speak and returning to politics of mask” over the issue of Hindutva and wanted it to explain which brand of Hindutva now BJP President Rajnath Singh was trying to promote.

”The days of BJP’s double speak, triple speak and multiple speak is back. The days of BJP’s politics of masks and mukhota is back,” Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said while reacting to Mr Rajnath Singh’s clarion call to his cadre return to Hinduvta. He said the Congress on behalf of the people of the country wanted to know whether it would be the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s brand of Hindutva or Varun Gandhi brand or Vinay Katiyar brand or a unique brand and trademark developed by Mr Singh himself.

Pointing out that Leader of Opposition L K Advani had after defeat in the Parliamentary polls had spoken about inclusive governance or ‘Sushasan’ while BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain had blamed the divisive politics pursued by the party for its defeat, Mr Singhvi said that another BJP leader Yashwant Sinha had emphasised the need for introspection.

The spokesman wondered whether this call of Hindutva given by the BJP President was indicative of internal power struggle within the BJP and an attempt to ”fool the people of the country by creating confusion.” Mr Singhvi reminded that Mr Advani had incited mob frenzy leading to demolition of Babri mosque and then shed ”crocodile tears saying that it was the saddest day in his life.” He wondered whether Mr Singh was planning to follow the Jaswant Singh’s brand of Hindutva who had surrendered the country’s interest in Kandahar.

”The counry wants an answer from the BJP and it has to answer which of the various mukhotas or chehra it was using now,” he said and added that the BJP has lost the trust of the people.
