Congress against farmers’ welfare: Harish

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said only Telangana State was implementing input subsidy scheme and giving 24 hour free power supply to farmers in the country besides waiving of Rs 17,000 crore crop loan.

The jealousy Opposition was bent upon creating hurdles to the government efforts which plans to make Telangana free from all land disputes and other problems. Participating in some developmental programs in Siddipet and launched Central Lighting facility here attended by Whip B Venkateshwarlu and MLA Muthi Reddy and others, the minister slammed the Opposition parties for coming in the way of every scheme of the government.

“We will settle all the related issues through comprehensive land survey. The survey of the lands by the Revenue department will find facts of the lands whose details will be made online for transparency. Opposing Rs 8000 per acre towards crop investment is tantamount to stalling farmers’ growth”, he said. Farmer coordination committees are meant for uniting the farmers, who will have their say in fixing MSP for the agriculture produce, Harish Rao said.

The minister also claimed that the flagship Mission Kakatiya program pushed minor irrigation to great extent giving new hopes to the rural people. As many as 94 lakh metric tons of paddy was produced through revival of lakes, reservoirs and ponds in the villages which is a record he maintained. Of the total paddy produced, the government alone procured 54 lakhs tons and built storage houses spending Rs 8100 cr across the state, the marketing minister claimed. He also said that opposing crop investment to the farmers is against finding a solution to the land disputes in the State. (NSS)
