New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday backed the BJP veterans’ criticism of the party’s top brass for the crushing defeat in Bihar and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take responsibility for the same.
Congress leader Rashid Alvi said the veterans have very rightly pointed out that the BJP did not take any lesson post the defeat in the Delhi Assembly polls at the hands of Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP).
“The people, who wanted to take credit, are responsible for the defeat. They have directly pointed finger towards Modi ji and Modi ji should take responsibility of the defeat in Bihar,” he told ANI here.
Alvi further said that though it is the BJP’s internal matter, but the issue raised should be answered by Prime Minister Modi.
Lal Krishna Advani and three other BJP veterans have issued a strong statement on the party’s defeat in Bihar, demanding a thorough review and criticising its stand on the debacle.
“The results of Bihar election show that no lesson has been learnt from fiasco in Delhi,” said the statement signed by Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Sinha.
The BJP top brass, however, issued a counter statement in response, saying they have been ‘fortunate’ to be led by Advani for decades and welcomed any guidance and suggestion by the senior leaders. (ANI)
