Congress demands House panel probe, walks out

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has staged a walk-out when the TRS government refused to appoint a House Committee on the alleged irregularities in the Mission Bhagiratha Scheme.

Not satisfied with the IT & Municipal Administration Minister K T Ramarao’s reply on the demands, Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has thrown a challenge at the state government saying that he was ready to tender the resignation in case he failed to prove the allegations made against the Mission Bhagiratha Scheme. “I will tender my resignation in case I failed to prove my allegations on Mission Bhagiratha. I will not contest elections again. Four Andhra contractors formed into a ring and looted Rs 10,000 crore”, he alleged.

Reacting to it, KTR said the State government was acting transparently. The TRS government would not be afraid of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who approached the State Vigilance Committee (SVC). “The TRS government was ready to provide water and also make the Opposition party to drink the water. “The TRS government thinks in people’s perspective”, he said and alleged that Komatireddy was much interested in contracts and sub-contracts instead of providing water to the people and the previous government failed to provide water to fluoride-affected villages in Nalgonda district. He said the entire country was looking at the Telangana State for developing in a fast phase within three years. He said the TRS government was doing wonders in the State whereas the Congress party had miserably failed to do anything in the State in the last 60 years. The TRS government was cleansing the dirt left by the previous Congress government.

Angrily reacting, Komatireddy reiterated his demand asking the State government to appoint House Committee and prove its sincerity if it was really acting transparently in regard to Mission Bhagiratha Scheme. He also alleged that the entire country was discussing on the huge corruption in the state and never took place such a huge scam across the country. He said during 2004-2014 Congress government, he made the government to supply drinking water to 700 villages, in which many were suffering from Fluoride problem in Nalgonda district.

Intervening in the discussion, CLP leader K Jana Reddy said it was not only Komatireddy’s demand and it was the demand of the Congress party. Ruling out appointment of House Committee on the alleged irregularities in Mission Bhagiratha Scheme, KTR said the Congress leaders were mentally disturbed and were trying to rub the same on the State. He asked the Congress MLAs to shed tension and remain peaceful. He said there was no need for appointing a House Committee as Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had approached the SVC.

The CLP leader asked the TRS government to prove its sincerity when it was not done any mistake. He said that his party was staging walkout as the State government was not accepting their demand of appointing the House Committee.

After Congress party’s walkout from the Assembly, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao alleged that the Congress party staged walkout due to jealousy at the monumental development taking place in the State during the TRS government. The Congress party was indulging in mud-slinging by making baseless allegations against the State government. He made it clear that TRS government would complete the Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakathiya under any circumstances. (NSS)
