Congress demands CBI probe into SSC scam

New Delhi: Describing the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) job scam as similar to Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress on Saturday demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The party said incidents of mass cheating, question paper leak and proxy students is the modus operandi used in the Vyapam scam as well.

“We demand that this scam, which is at the same scale as Vyapam, perhaps even bigger that it, should be probed by the CBI,” said Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala in a statement while extending complete support to the agitating students.

Slamming the Modi government for what he said was silence on the issue, Surjewala said that students from across the country have been protesting on the streets of Delhi for several days to highlight the “corruption” in the SSC recruitment exam.

Surjewala said that the issue is very important as the SSC conducts recruitment examinations for various Ministries and more than 10 million students appear for around 12,000 to 40,000 government posts.

“Question papers are leaked in an orchestrated manner and price of their future is being quoted from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. These allegations need a thorough probe,” said the Congress leader.
