Congress corners PM over black money, PNB scam

New Delhi [India]: Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is yet to bring back black money, has successfully sent white money out of the country.

Further questioning the Prime Minister’s popularity abroad, Azad said if the latter is famous abroad, why he has failed to bring back offenders like Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi.

“Prime Minister has not been able to bring any black money back to India. On the contrary, he has been successful in sending white money out (of the country),” Azad told media here.

“PM goes on a number of foreign trips and the BJP says he is very popular worldwide. If it is so, why is this popularity not being used to bring back the people behind the huge bank scams back to the country?” he added.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is holding the Congress responsible for the multi-crore scam.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal earlier in the day said that the Congress party is trying to mislead the country.

“Matter of Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi is connected to the Congress, the problem started during their time, they cannot mislead the nation on this issue,” Goyal told media here.

To the unversed, the PNB detected a 1.77 billion dollar scam in which Nirav Modi acquired fraudulent letters of undertaking from one of its branches for overseas credit from other Indian lenders. (ANI)
