Congress condemns BJP-led NDA Govt. for raking up Article 370, terms it divisive

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Wednesday condemned the BJP-led NDA Government for pursuing its divisive agenda after coming to power, and termed its development plank as plain camouflage. Commenting on Minister of State (MoS) in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh’s controversial statement on Article 370 Singhvi said, “Development was just a camouflage till the elections were on. Barely a day after taking the oath we have diverse divisive agendas nakedly out in the front. Within a day of entering office the first priority which the BJP –led Government could think of is Article 370.” “It is most unfortunate that such tactics are used so early after an election. It is most unfortunate that things which are not politically possible, numerically feasible, constitutionally incorrect are being thrown in — to confuse, confound and create polarization and politicization, and hence we condemn it roundly.” he added. Manu Singhvi said that the entire happening was a carefully orchestrated attempt to politicize not only in Jammu and Kashmir but across the country. It is inflammatory, divisive, and provocative. “According to us each and every comment and statement is deliberately thought out orchestrated and intended to politicise and polarise. First the Minister of State in the PMO makes a statement. The statement is on candid camera in detail; it is then detracted. Then the remote-control from Nagpur speaks on it; then the senior leaders of the BJP run to discuss with the remote-control,” he added. He alleged that even though the BJP doesn’t have the wherewithal to initiate such a step , it is thrown in with a view of influencing the state elections. Dr. Jitendra Singh had on Tuesday kicked up a controversy by making a statement which called for a debate on Article 370, which gives special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. (ANI)
