Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday appealed to the people to vote in favour of Congress candidates in the GHMC elections to ensure development of Hyderabad.
Addressing different meetings at various places on the last day of election campaign on Sunday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said only Congress party has a clear and comprehensive vision for development of Hyderabad. “While TDP-BJP combine is dependent on Central funds, TRS has linked the development plans with loans from BRICS Bank. Both Chief Ministers – K. Chandrashekar Rao (Telangana) and N. Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh) used their skills to mislead the people in their own styles. They confused the voters with their tall claims and fake promises. Neither TRS Government in Telangana, nor BJP-led NDA Government, with TDP as its constituent, at the Centre, did anything for Hyderabad during the last 20 months. They have exposed themselves during the election campaign and therefore, people should vote in favour of Congress candidates,” he appealed.
Uttam Kumar Reddy claimed that the previous Congress Government developed world-class infrastructure in Hyderabad during its rule from 2004 to 2014 without any hype or publicity. However, he said that the TRS Government has only made the record of making fake promises and staking claim on achievements of previous government. “KCR addressed a press conference on GHMC elections for almost two hours. Within 24 hours, he again spoke for over one hour. His son and Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao did live shows with almost all television news channels for over one hour. Why they need to talk so much if they are practically doing something for the people? They are merely trying to shield their failures using catchy words like ‘international city’. We were praised by the entire world when we constructed new international airport, Outer Ring Road, Express Way and initiated Metro Rail works. We never shouted from the roof top on our achievements,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also slammed MIM for seeking votes on communal grounds. He said that the MIM leaders tried to invoke religious sentiments while addressing their last meeting at Khilwat Grounds today. He said that the Congress party was successful in raising public issues during its campaign in the Old City. Having failed to answer queries related to their failures in getting basic civic amenities in the areas that they represent, MIM leaders made a last bid to invoke religious feelings. However, he said that the people of Old City have realised that they were being exploited by the MIM and this time they would vote in favour of Congress party to signal the beginning of a new era.
