Congress Cheated BCs On Fees Reimbursement: Naidu

TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has lashed out at the Congress government for its decision on reimbursement of fee to the BC students.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he claimed that the policy was introduced during the TDP rule itself. He alleged that late Rajasekhara Reddy had cheated the BCs by showing several schemes to them only to get their votes.

Stating that the new policy would result in unbearable burden on the BCs, he demanded that the government remove the Rs 31,000 ceiling on fee reimbursement. He also said it was the duty of the government to reimburse the entire fee.

The former chief minister reiterated that his party would give 100 seats to the BCs and ensure their victory. He claimed that the attitude of other parties towards BCs had changed after his party announced the seats for them. He also said that his party would waive the loans of handloom weavers after coming back to power. He also promised the weavers interest-free loans and free housing. He alleged that the government was not even spending minimum amount on the security of the weavers. He assured that his government would resume the Janata clothes scheme introduced during rule of late N T Rama Rao.

Meanwhile, another TDP leader Srinivasa Yadav has faulted the BC ministers for remaining silent on the fees reimbursement issue. He charged them with dancing to the tune of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, though injustice was being done to the BCs.

TDP MLA Gali Muuddu Krishnama Naidu criticized the Union government for rendering injustice to the State in gas allocation. He said that Congress leaders had allotted gas to the Ratnagiri power plant in Maharashtra for their own selfish reasons. He also alleged that Ratnagiri is the benami power plant of top leaders of the Congress at the Central and State governments. (NSS)
