Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee today celebrated the occasion of passing of AP Reorganisation Act in the Rajya Sabha on the same day last year.
The Congress leaders asserted that the Telangana State was formed only because of Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s determination.
AP Reorganisation Act, which brought cheers to the entire Telangana people, who struggled for separate State for six decades, was passed with strong determination of AICC president Sonia Gandhi at the cost of party’s future and unrelenting protests from people in the State, said TPCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah at Gandhi Bhavan.
Ponnala said people gave the massive mandate to the TRS with high expectations of development and confidence on K. Chandrasekhar Rao. But after assuming power, KCR utterly failed to develop the State. He also warned that no leader in the history could survive with this type of governance and suggested KCR to take the Opposition constructive criticism into consideration.
He also said the Chief Minister’s move to ban media, known as fourth estate in the democracy, is atrocious. Ponnala admitted that because of lack of planned campaign and coordination among the party leaders and cadre, the Congress encountered a debacle in the 2014 general elections.
The Congress leaders marched from Gandhi Bhavan to Gun Park opposite the Assembly and offered homage to the Telangana martyrs. City Congress president and former minister Danam Nagender warned KCR that the Congress would give a fitting lesson in the coming GHMC elections.
Another senior leader D. Srinivas said Sonia Gandhi took the decision to bifurcate united Andhra Pradesh independently and nobody influenced her. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly K. Jana Reddy accused the TRS government of not working for development of the State.
He also exuded confidence that his party would return to power in 2019.
Senior Congress leaders, including Mohammad Shabbir Ali, V. Hanumanth Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Mallu Ravi, Madhu Yashki Goud, Suresh Shetkar, S. Rajaiah, P. Sabita Indra Reddy, D K Aruna and rank and file of the party also participated in the program.
