Only Congress can guarantee social justice: Uttam

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that only Congress party could ensure social justice in the society.

Addressing the meeting of party’s OBC Cell at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said there were several political parties in the country. But it was only Congress party that works for protection of democracy in the country. He said that the backward classes could get justice only through Congress party as it fights for social justice right from village to State-level irrespective of whether or not it is in power. He said OBCs could expect top positions only under Congress regime.

Indirectly targeting Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the TPCC chief said that the only one family gets importance in TRS and it does not give any importance to the backward classes. Similarly, he said that parties like TDP or YSRCP do not give any important positions to the leaders of backward classes. However, he said anyone, irrespective of his caste or religion, could get any top position not only in the Congress party, but in government when party is in power.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the previous Congress regimes have implemented several measures for the development of backward classes. Citing an example, he said lakhs of students belonging to backward classes benefitted from the Fee Reimbursement scheme. They completed higher education at free of cost and are now employed with different institutions. However, he said that the present TRS regime never cleared Fee Reimbursement dues on time. The delay has caused immense damage to the students of BC, SC, ST and minorities communities.

The TPCC chief advised the activists of OBC Cell to fight against the injustices being done to backward classes by the present TRS and BJP regimes.

Earlier, former MLA of Peddapalli Vijay Ramana Rao, who joined the Congress party, met Uttam Kumar Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan. On his request, the TPCC chief agreed to attend a public meeting in Peddapalli constituency on November 23.

OBC Cell Chairman Chitranjan Das and other senior leaders were also present in the meeting. (NSS)
