Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has decided to boycott the foundation stone laying ceremony of Amravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, on October 22.
Speaking to media persons in Vijayawada, APCC Vice-President and former minister S. Sailajanath said that the TDP Government did not send the invitation to opposition parties in a proper manner. Further, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi denied appointment to Rajya Sabha MPs of the State to submit representation on issues concerning AP. Therefore, the APCC has decided to boycott the foundation stone laying ceremony.
Sailajanath said that the Congress party was not against the construction of new capital Amravati. However, the ruling party has been treating the occasion as party function, he alleged. (INN)
