The Congress party has blamed the contractors for the GHMC’s failure to implement some schemes for the development of Hyderabad.
Speaking to media persons, Deputy Mayor G Rajkumar said that the contractors did not cooperate with the GHMC in the implementation of some schemes. Congress floor leader in GHMC Mohammed Wajid Hussain too blamed contractors for non-construction of community halls in several divisions. They said that the pace of development would have increased if the contractors would have cooperated with the corporation.
However, the Deputy Mayor said that the GHMC has successfully two international events – Bio-Diversity conference and Metropolis. He said introduction of subsidised meal scheme and construction of stadium in every Assembly constituency were among the major achievements in the last five years.
Wajid Hussain admitted that the Urban Primary Health faced problems due to lack of power and vaccines. Similarly, water purification plants could not be set in all divisions
Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy, who served as Mayor during first two-year year tenure of GHMC, said that the present corporation had set several precedents and the future corporations could emulate them. She said she was happy with the performance of GHMC in the last five years. (INN)
