Congress has become ‘tail enders’ of alliance: Jaitley

New Delhi : Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday alleged that the Congress has lowered its level of ambition by forming alliance with regional parties in desperation to build an anti-BJP alliance in five states and is content with being the tail ender of alliance.

He gave the examples of Bihar, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu to prove his point.

“Look at Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu.the Congress has lowered its level of ambition. They have become tail enders of the alliance in all these states,” Jaitley told the media here on the second day of the BJP’s national executive meet.

The upcoming elections in four states – Bengal, Assam, Kerala and Tamil Nadu – was on the agenda of the meet.

The Congress has allied with the Communists to put up a combined fight against the ruling Trinamool Congress in the West Bengal Assembly polls.

Meanwhile, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Janata Dal (United) announced a grand alliance of secular parties in Assam and invited the Congress to join them to fight the BJP in the forthcoming assembly polls.

In Kerala, the Congress has severed its ties with the UDF.

In Tamil Nadu, the Congress has entered into an electoral pact with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) to fight the assembly elections. (ANI)
