Congress-backed candidates lost due to bogus voters: Niranjan

Hyderabad: Congress leader and convener of Congress election commission coordination committee G. Niranjan on Tuesday alleged that the names of several bogus voters were included in the ongoing Panchayat elections in the State. He said the inclusion of the bogus voters’ names had impacted the winning and losing opportunities of several contesting candidates in the State.

In a statement here today, he said he had submitted a representation on the issue to the Chief Electoral Officer of the State. He said Congress backed candidates Pitla Tirupathi from Medipally village and Bandi Suratna from Neral thanda of Gandhari mandal from Kamareddy district lost their elections due to the presence of the bogus voters in the electors list.

Niranjan said the Congress candidates lost elections by a margin of 10 and 7 votes respectively due to the bogus vote factor. He urged the Election Commission officiald to find out the names of the bogus voters by using their software.
