Shimla, December 01: The Congress today admitted that its defeat to BJP at Rohroo — a seat held by the party for the past 20 years in Himachal Pradesh, had been caused by “groupism”.
“Groupism appears to be one of the main reasons for the party’s defeat in the constituency,” AICC Secretary and in-charge of its affairs in Himachal Pradesh Vijaya Lakshmi told reporters here.
However, she hoped that everything would soon be fine within the state unit of party.
The defeat at Rohroo, a seat vacated by former chief minister Virbhadra Singh after his election to the Lok Sabha, had triggered a blame game within the state Congress with a section of party leaders accusing Singh’s supporters of “sabotaging” the chances of greenhorn Manjit Singh Thakur who was given a ticket instead of Singh’s wife Pratibha Singh.
