TPCC Kisan Cell chairman M. Kodanda Reddy on Monday asked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to cancel TRS Plenary, scheduled to be held on April 27, in view of severe drought conditions in Telangana State.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Kodanda Reddy said it would be inappropriate for the ruling party to conduct its Plenary at a time when the entire State was under the grip of drought and heat wave. He said entire State has been facing scarcity of water, shortage of fodder and water for cattle and several deaths have been reported due to heat wave. Therefore, instead of engaging all Ministers and legislators in party activities, the Chief Minister should direct them to take up drought relief operations.
Kodanda Reddy said that the Congress party would be organising dharnas across the Telangana State on April 27 in protest against the State Government’s failure to deal with the drought situation.
The Congress leader also slammed MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar and MLC Mohammed Farooq Hussain for joining the TRS. He dismissed their allegations of being ignored in the party. He said Puvvada was given opportunity twice to speak on behalf of the party in Assembly during budget session. Similarly, Farooq Hussain was nominated to the MLC post under Governor’s quota. After enjoying all the benefits due to Congress party, both Puvvada and Farooq Hussain defected to TRS for personal gains, he alleged.
Kodanda said both should have resigned from their posts before joining the TRS. He also accused KCR of luring or intimidating the opposition leaders to make them join the TRS. (INN)
