Congress asks Gadkari to name politician willing to bring down UPA II

Congress Party on Friday lashed out at former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari over his claims that a ”senior leader” had approached him to topple the Congress-led UPA-II Government at the Centre, and asked him to name the politician.

“Until and unless he discloses the name how could I make comment on it? If he wants to bring out truth, he should reveal the name otherwise nobody would trust at all,” Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said.

Gadkari, who is now out of the big picture since he lost the chance to be the BJP President again, created a stir last evening by saying that an ”influential political leader” had asked him to help bring down the Congress-led UPA II Government.

Gadkari, who did not reveal the identity of the ”senior” leader, did not even say when this alleged proposal was made to him.

I told him it”s up to you whether to withdraw support or not. My conscience is clear and I have no separate agenda,” he told a gathering at a ceremony in Nagpur.

Gadkari had earlier this year opted out of the election process on grounds that he had to spend time addressing allegations levelled by the income tax department relating to business deals of the Purti group of companies. (ANI)
