Alleging that the Congress party was solely responsible for suicides of distressed farmers in the State, TRS MLC Karne Prabhakar here on Tuesday demanded that the former unconditional apologies to the farmers for the injustices meted out to them since the last 40 years.
Speaking to mediapersons in Telangana Bhavan here today, Prabhakar said the TRS government has achieved unique distinction of waiving farm loans and wiping out tears of the farming community. Pointing out that the TRS government was providing nine-hour uninterrupted power supply to agriculture within one year after coming to power in the State, the TRS MLC alleged that the Congress party earned a dubious distinction of destroying agriculture. “The Congress leaders launch agitations for construction of projects on one side and create hurdles to irrigation projects on the other. The Congress party was conspiring to see that the farmers shun agriculture”, he charged.
The TRS MP said the State government was keen on providing waters to one crore acres and the farmers were cheerfully cultivating crops with the free power supply and water for irrigation. He also made it clear that his government was wedded to bring about monumental development in the State. Recalling that farmers faced many problems during the Congress regime in the past, Prabhakar said instead of objecting to diversion of Krishna waters to Pothireddipadu, the Congress leaders hailed the move of the neighbouring State. “If the Congress leaders sincerely want farmers welfare, they should not create hurdles to construction of projects and could give constructive suggestions to the government on the issue, otherwise, the people would never pardon them?, he added.
