Senior leader of Congress party and MLC Paladu Venkat Rao on Sunday advised Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy to confess his crimes before the probing agencies.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office, Venkat Rao said that the courts might reduce the punishment for Jaganmohan Reddy’s if he confesses his crimes before the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate. He said Jagan’s confession of financial crimes that he committed over the year, might increase his acceptance in the society and political circles. Else, he said Jagan would be remembered in history as one of most corrupt politician.
However, Venkat Rao said that the involvement of Enforcement Directorate into the investigations against Jaganmohan Reddy indicates that the probing agencies might have to take the help of Interpol to crack the case. However, he reiterated that the Congress party or the government was not resorting to personal vendetta against Jaganmohan Reddy.
Regarding Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, the Congress MLC said that Naidu was a bigger ‘economic offender’ than Jagan. He said proper enquiries would expose Naidu’s involvement in corrupt practices and he too might land in prison. He cited some instances wherein Naidu favoured private companies during his tenure as the Chief Minister.
Stating that Naidu has no moral right to speak about corruption, he said the Congress party was ready for an open debate on Naidu’s corrupt practices.
