Congress adopting dual standard on irrigation projects: Minister

Transport Minister Mahender Reddy on Tuesday accused Congress leaders of adopting double standards on irrigation projects in Telangana State.

Speaking to media persons here, Mahender Reddy said that the Congress leaders have no unanimous views on irrigation projects. He said the Congress leaders of different districts have distinct stand on irrigation projects and consequently, they were creating hurdles in the construction of projects. He warned the Congress leaders of public ire if they continue to halt irrigation projects.

Mahender Reddy said that the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project was being constructed to provide water for irrigation and drinking in Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad’s outskirts. He alleged that Congress leader Harshvardhan Reddy has first stalled the project by approaching a court and now he is launching a padayatra to gain sympathies of farmers. He asked as to how farmers could be supplied water if the construction of the irrigation project is stalled by creating legal complications. (INN)
