Tehran, September 28: Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs Basile Ikouebe has expressed willingness to open his country’s embassy in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ikouebe made the remark in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki on the sidelines of the 64th United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York on Sunday.
“The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) [Joseph Kabila] follows the development of bilateral ties himself. He is willing to open the Congo embassy in the Iranian capital Tehran as soon as possible,” Fars news agency quoted Ikouebe as saying.
Talks about bilateral relations and international cooperation were also discussed between the two countries’ foreign ministers during the meeting.
“Political, economic and parliamentary delegations can pave the way for better and stronger relations between the two countries when they often visit each other’s capitals,” Mottaki stressed.
