Hyderabad, July 22: The senior Telugu Desam party leader and former minister, Mr Talasani Srinivas Yadav, on Wednesday said that the Congress government in the State would have to pay a heavy price for the unwarranted arrest and ill-treatment of the party supremo, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, and his entourage in Maharashtra when they went there to inspect the controversial Babli project.
Talking to mediapersons at Care Hospital at Banjara Hills, Mr Yadav condemned the atrocious behaviour of the Maharashtra police towards the Telugu Desam legislators when they went there to inspect the Babli project in order to protect the interests of the State. He also made it clear that his party was ready to resume the agitation against the illegal construction of Babli and other projects in Maharashtra.
Another TDP leader, Mr Revanth Reddy, has questioned the Maharashtra police action on the democratically elected Telugu Desam legislators while the same government was treating the hard core terrorists and death convicts like Afzal Guru and Kasab as royal guests.
The former minister, Mr Yerrabelli Dayakar Rao, who was convalescing in the Care Hospital, said that he was not sad with being thrashed by the Maharashtra cops, but he was very unhappy for the Babli issue being unresolved. Mr Reddy also said that the allegations that they (TDP leaders) were deliberately politicizing the Babli issue was totally unreasonable. The TDP was prepared to withdraw from the by-election fray if the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, gave a categorical assurance that he would settle the issue immediately, he added.
