Cong will be single largest party in 2014 polls: Renuka Chaudhury

Describing the prediction of BJP stalwart L K Advani that the Congress’ score in the 2014 general elections would sink to just two digits as his personal opinion, party spokesperson Renuka Chaudhury today said the Congress would get maximum seats in the next Lok Sabha polls. “What Mr Advani said is his personal opinion. As far as I know, I am confident that the Congress will get the maximum seats in the 2014 polls. this I am very much sure of,” Ms Chaudhury told reporters here. Dismissing the claim by Mr Advani, made in his blog yesterday, Ms Chaudhury said, “Mr Advani should rather worry about his own party BJP, which is in extreme disarray, and put their house in order first. The Congress will be the single largest party in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.” Mr Advani said, “It would not at all be surprising if the next Lok Sabha elections yield a result which for the Congress may prove the worst in its history since 1952It may be the first time when the Congress’ score sinks to just two digits, that is, less than one hundred!” Mr Advani pointed out the Congress’ miserable performance in Uttar Pradesh, which include Amethi and Rae Bareilly – pocket-boroughs of the Gandhi family.

“So far as the BJP is concerned, the bungling in Karnataka notwithstanding, all recent public opinion surveys clearly reveal that the principal beneficiary of the Congress’ fast eroding reputation continues to be the BJP,” he said. UNI
