Cong Whip condemns T-protest over SA leaders meet

Congress Whip in the Legislative Assembly Y Shivarama Reddy condemned the objection raised by the pro-Telangana groups over the meeting held by Seemandhra leaders in the city on Thursday.

Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises on Friday, Shivarama Reddy said that Seemandhra people and their leaders have equal rights on Hyderabad and therefore, the Telangana leaders could not object or oppose their meeting in the State capital. He also claimed that the Congress High Command gave no signals of bifurcating the State and it was just a hype created by some leaders in the Telangana region.

Shivarama Reddy alleged that some leaders who were surviving in the name of Telangana were threatening the leaders from Seemandhra region. He said although the Seemandhra leaders were capable of countering those threats by all means, they do not want to take law into their hands. He appealed to the Telangana leaders to avoid making provocative statements that could lead to enmity between the people of different regions.

However, he said that the leaders from all regions would consider the decision on statehood taken by Congress High Command. (INN)
