Cong trying to destabilise my Govt: Karna CM

Bangalore, September 27: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday charged the Congress with “attempting to topple” his government after the opposition tried to lay siege to the state Secretariat to protest the BJP government’s “failures”.

“It is an unprovoked protest. There is no situation that warranted any protest. Let them show one instance of law and order unrest in recent days in the state,” an agitated Yeddyurappa said here.

Rejecting the Congress’ charge of using police force to foil their protest, he said the threat perception to Vidhana Soudha was taken into account and the government performed its duty in preventing use of the venue

“No responsible government will allow such things. BJP is in opposition at the Centre. If BJP says it will lay seige to Parliament, will the government permit it?”, he asked.

“Not only now. Even in future also, I will not allow such protests near the Vidhana Soudha”, Yedyurappa declared.

The Chief Minister took a swipe at both the Congress and the JD-S for levelling “baseless” allegations against his government, saying both parties are in a race to prove who will outsmart the other.

“People of the state have discovered their gimmicks”, he said.

In another development Bangalore City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidar met Congress leaders and urged them to call off their dharna.
