New Delhi, August 28: Congress today said the press conference of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was a “cynical exploitation” of the (BJP’s) situation to put forth the organisation’s views when the focus was on the internal wrangling of BJP.
“It was a cynical exploitation of the current situation to put forward the ideology of the organisation when the focus was on the internal power struggle within the BJP,” a senior Congress leader said, on condition of anonymity.
AICC spokesman Manish Tewari, however, said Bhagwat did not say anything new except reiterating what he had said during his interaction at Jammu recently.
Talking to reporters here, Tewari said, “At Jammu, he (Bhagwat) had characterised it (BJP) as a shop. The essence of this press conference was the same. Managers of shops are responsible for its omission and commission.”
He said the RSS has realised that BJP has been “completely demolished” and therefore Bhagwat expressed hope that the party will “rise from the ashes”.
Asked about the praise showered on Nehru and Patel by Bhagwat, Tewari said Congress does not comment on such opinion.
