Cong T MPs urge CM to lift cases against student

Hyderabad, January 02: Citing the statement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram that the State Government would withdraw the cases filed on or after November 29, against all the leaders, students and others associated with the present agitation, the Telangana Congress MPs today urged Chief Minister K Rosaiah to withdraw cases booked against the students especially the members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC).

A delegation comprising Telangana Congress MPs who included G Vivekanand, Ponnam Prabhakar, Manda Jagannadham, M Anjan Kumar Yadav, Madhu Yaskhi Goud, Rajaiah, G Sukender Reddy, K Rajagopal Reddy, Survey Satyanarayana, P Balaram and Suresh Shetkar submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister requesting the latter to honour Union Home Minister’s assurance on the floor of the House by withdrawing cases against the students and JAC members.

The MPs, in their memorandum, stated that the bandh on December 30 was peaceful and no violent incidents took place on the day. In view of the above, the State Government should initiate steps for withdrawal of cases against the agitators, they added.
