Cong T leaders seek action against Jagan

Hyderabad, December 16: Ruling Congress members belonging to three regions (Telangana, Andhra and Rayalaseema) of the State today competed with each other in making allegations against each other on separate Statehood issue.

Talking to newsmen, former minister and MLA R Damodar Reddy, senior member KR Amos and others asserted that they would not allow their party MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal to undertake padayatra in Telangana region.

They also demanded disciplinary action against late YSR’s son and Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for allegedly extending solidarity to opposition TDP MP’s demand on ` `United Andhra Pradesh’’ in Parliament today.

“We urge them (leaders of Andhra and Rayalaseema) to cooperate on Telangana issue. Even former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy had not opposed Telangana and respected people’s sentiments. Let us separate like brothers and live peacefully,’’they added.

On the other hand, Kurnool MLA TG Venkatesh stressed the need that all Telugu-speaking people should live together for overall development of the State.

Only the leaders facing `political unemployment’ have been demanding for separation of the state.

“We (Congress leaders of Andhra and Rayalaseema) will seek resignations of the MPs of the region if there is no response to our demand from the party high command,’’ he remarked.

Former minister and Tadipatri MLA JC Diwakar Reddy said that entry of radicals into the students’ agitation has resulted in violent incidents in Anantapur.

He urged the student community to carry forward their agitation peacefully, and to leave the movement (for United Andhra Pradesh) in the hands of political leaders.

Meanwhile, the Forum of MLAs and MLCs on `United Andhra Pradesh State’ comprising Government whip S Sailajanath, TG Venkatesh and others submitted a memorandum to Governor ND Tiwari requesting the latter to prevail upon the Central Government for having Unified State.
