Panaji, December 27: Rubbishing allegations against the state government regarding its alleged failure to control prices, Congress in Goa today came in full support of its government contending that Rs 1.7 crore has been spent to control rising prices of essential commodities in the state.
“There are several facts which are not carried in the media. Goa government has spent Rs 1.7 crores to support ten basic commodities sold for general public at controlled rates,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Chairman Subhash Shirodkar told reporters here.
He said since last year the essential commodities were taken to the doorsteps of the people through mobile vans and various stalls operated by Goa State Horticulture Corporation across the state.
Shirodkar said these efforts will continue even in future with state government toying up with the idea of roping in 100 cooperative societies to provide essential commodities.
