Chitradurga, August 05: Opposition Congress in Karnataka today slammed the ruling BJP for taking out rallies to counter its ”padayatra” against the state government”s “failures”. “The BJP rallies were a desperate action in the face of the Congress onslaught,” senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah told reporters here.
“Let Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa create awakening among the people on his corrupt government. Let him be awakened first before awakening others,” the leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Assembly said, referring to ”Jan Jagruthi” rallies organised by the BJP highlighting the state government”s achievements, as a counter to the Congress” ”Bellary Chalo padayatra”.
The Congress” padayatra, which began from Bangalore on July 25 demanding a CBI probe into illegal mining and illegal export of iron ore and to highlight the “failures” of the BJP government, today entered its 12th day. The Congress leaders resumed their 320-km-long journey after a overnight halt at Hirwehalla village in the district.
They have already covered about 230 km. The ”padayatra” would culminate in a rally at Bellary on August 9, the ”Quit India” observance day.
