Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao has expressed the strong view that there should be a clear understanding in the party on differentiating between late Dr YSR and his son and Kadapa MP Jaganmoban Reddy.
He also felt that there should be an in-depth and full-fledged debate on the party’s debacle in the recent by-elections in the State.
Hanumantha Rao called on Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi at the latter’s residence here today and discussed on the outcome of the recent by-elections, achieving unity among the Congress and erstwhile PRP cadres, and other issues. Rao told the media later thatr the party should take a clear stand on treating Dr YSR and his son Jagan on different level. The theory that Jagan is a good person because his father was a good leader was not proper. He said that there should be something like a ‘brain storming’ session on the party’s defeat in the recent by-elections.
Stating that the Co-ordination committee was making efforts to bring the Congress party to power in the State in the next elections, he said that the YSRCP, which was depending only on sympathy factor, without any agenda, would not get votes in future.
The meeting between Hanumantha Rao and Chiranjeevi assumes significance as it was held on the eve of Chiranjeevi’s proposed trip to Delhi to submit a report on the party’s defeat in the recent by-elections. It may be mentioned that Chiranjeevi has made it clear that lack of coordination between the Congress and erstwhile PRP cadres was the reason for the party’s defeat. (NSS)
