New Delhi, August 17: Congress today said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s proposal for judicial reforms were aimed at taking justice delivery system to the common man.
“The Prime Minister has given a comprehensive blueprint for all stake holders,” party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here.
He said the party believes that “tears of Aam Admi cannot be wiped out unless he gets justice from within a short time”.
Singhvi was commenting on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remarks at yesterday’s conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts where he had voiced concern over huge pendency of cases and judicial vacancies.
He termed Singh’s remark as “most comprehensive, strong and clear” on the subject.
Singhvi felt that the greater use of the existing power to appoint ad hoc judges, Alternative Dispute Resolution system, Consensual Dispute Resolution system and Gram Nyayalayas could be highly beneficial.
At the same time, he said states have an important role to play in this regard.
