Bhubaneswar, February 09: The Orissa CPI-M today accused the Congress of adopting “narrow political strategy” in fight against Maoists.
“The Congress-led UPA government at the Centre is not helping non-Congress state governments in anti-Maoist operations,” state party unit secretary Janardan Pati told a press conference here.
His remarks came in reply to a question on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s repeated claims that the state is not getting enough central forces for anti-Maoist operation.
Referring to West Bengal, Pati said though many people were in Naxal violence in the state, Centre failed to provide enough para-military force there to tackle the menace.
“They withdrew forces from West Bengal under the pretext of elections in Jharkhand. The forces did not return after the elections,” he said.
