Cong MP withdraws resignation after meeting CM

Nandyal Congress MP S P Y Reddy who had resigned his Lok Sabha Membership in protest against the release of water from the Srisailam Reservoir into Nagarjuna Sagar much to the disadvantage of the people of Rayalaseema yesterday withdrew his resignation after talking to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today.

Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting with the Chief Minister, he said Mr Reddy had agreed to release 0.5 tmc of water to Kurnool and hence he had decided to withdraw his resignation. Mr Reddy, an industrialist, had sent his resignation letter through his Personal Assistant to the Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar. He said last night that there was no use in continuing in the Congress Party when the Chief Minister did not pay heed to MP’s requests.
