Cong MP alleges “conspiracy” to prevent Jagan from becoming CM

New Delhi, September 08: In a new twist to the succession battle in Andhra Pradesh, a Congress MP S Hari today alleged that a “conspiracy” had been hatched by some party MLAs and MPs to ensure that Jagan Mohan Reddy does not become the Chief Minister.

Hari, a supporter of former Chief Minister Y S R Reddy, said he had conveyed his views to party President Sonia Gandhi and claimed that she had assured him of action against the “conspirators”.

Without naming anyone, the Congress leader told reporters after meeting Gandhi that some MLAs and MPs were “insecure” about their political future and hence were playing a “dirty game”.

“These Congress MLAs and MPs are conspiring to see to it that Jagan Mohan Reddy does not become Chief Minister and are colluding with opposition parties and certain media houses in this regard,” Hari said.

He, however, did not explain the alleged conspiracy or the basis of his allegation.

The allegation came in the midst of a clamour among MPs and MLAs of Andhra Pradesh for making Jagan Mohan the Chief Minister.

On his meeting with Gandhi, he claimed, “she has assured that appropriate action at the appropriate time would be taken against the conspirators.
